About this map
Pot gear within 1 nautical mile of your GPS position, shared voluntarily and anonymously by the boats that set it. There is no owner or vessel information, and gear only appears while its owner is actively sharing.
This map is open to everyone; no Bristol Maps account is needed.
Treat a clear screen as "nothing shared", never as "nothing there". This does not replace a proper gear watch.
The map follows your GPS. Moving the map around does not search other areas.
The fading line behind you is your own track for the last hour. It is kept on this phone only and never sent to Bristol Maps; the track button hides it.
The shaded cone on your position is the way your phone is pointing (its compass); the arrow is your course over ground while you are moving. Phone compasses are magnetic and are thrown off by steel, engines and electronics in a wheelhouse, so treat the cone as a rough guide, never for navigation. The compass button turns it off.
To put your own pots on this map, see the pot tracking quick start.
